Subject: HDF error

John, I am running MODE on precipitation files. I am using PCPcombine to sum up the 3 hr model accumulation files for 24hrs and compare to summed stageIV data. When I run MODE, I get the following error:

I placed the NETcdf file on your server. Any idea what would cause this error?

Bob,

I added your personal email as a CC for this ticket. So you should
receive
a copy of all the messages there. Please let me know if that's not
the
case.

Thanks for sending the sample data. I'm wondering what your MODE
config
file looks like. I am able to run the following met-6.0
plot_data_plane
command to read this data:

/usr/local/met-6.0/bin/plot_data_plane \
82c80350-281d-4eb3-92ce-602aeae01ece \
apcp_24.ps 'name="APCP_24"; level="(*,*)";'

So I don't see anything wrong with that NetCDF file. Does the
following
command work for you?

/h/WXQC/met-6.0/bin/plot_data_plane \
/h/data/global/WXQC/data/met/tmp/82c80350-281d-4eb3-92ce-602aeae01ece
\
apcp_24.ps 'name="APCP_24"; level="(*,*)";'

If it does work, please take a look at your MODE config file to see
how
you're setting the "name" and "level" entries. If you're still having
trouble, please send me your MODE config file.

Thanks,
John

I will run the checks you suggested.

John, I was able to display the NETcdf file as well with the code
string below. But the problem turned out to be that I had set the
poly_flag to both when I didn't have a valid poly file specified.
Once I fixed that, it worked.

Lesson learned.

Thanks for your help.
Bob

Bob,

OK, glad you were able to figure out it. I was thinking that wasn't a
very
useful error message, so I tried to replicate your situation here...
poly
file set to an empty string and the poly_flag set to BOTH. Here's the
error message I got from met-6.0:

DEBUG 2: Processing masking regions.
ERROR :
ERROR : grd_file_type() -> file does not exist "(nul)"
ERROR :

That seems like a pretty good error message for this situation. Not
sure
how/why you got the one you originally sent me.

But I'm glad you're back up and running.

Thanks,
John
