What units are the x and y components of the object velocity in? I'm specifically referencing the X_DOT and Y_DOT attributes outputted in MODE_TD's 3d_ss file. I would assume it's grid lengths per hour.

Thanks, Josh

Hello Josh,

I see you're wondering about the units of X_DOT and Y_DOT in the
output of
MODE Time Domain.

Page 230 of the MET Users Guide contains a brief description of
velocity,
but I do see that there's nothing specific about units. We'll update
the
documentation for the next version:

http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/docs/users_guide/MET_Users_Guide_v5.2.pdf

The the velocity is grid units per unit of the timestep you've passed
to
the tool. If you give it hourly data, it's grid lengths per hour.
For
6-hourly data, it's grid lengths per 6-hours.

Hope that helps clarify.

Thanks,
John Halley Gotway
