Hi John, 
 
This is a query reg the GRID stat tool. 
 
I have simulated a mesoscale event of a thunderstorm over my region. I have the Rf output from the model which is  attached. This is also the my d03. the location of my station is marked with +. the Obs rf is also attached. 
 
I want to verify the model O/p using Grid stat. Following are the questions. 
 
1. how do I select the neighbourhood around my station (+). in the Gridstat configuration file. 
Actually, I am interested in the RF forecast around 100km around my station (+). 
 
How it has to be done. ???
 
2. I saw Genpoly mask tool in MET. So not know how it has to be used.
 
 
Can U guide me.

Hi Geeta -

Regarding your first question, you should probably specify either a
lat/lon
polyline masking field, or a mask file (generated, for example, by the
GenPolyMask tool).  You can find information on how to specify this
mask
for the gridstat tool on page 5-7 of the MET version 4.1 users manual.

Regarding your second question, the usage of the GenPolyMask tool is
explained on pages 3-23 to 3-24 of the users manual.  Basically, you
run
the tool with your original data file and a lat/lon mask file as
inputs,
and it produces a netcdf output file containing information on which
grid
squares are inside the mask.
