Dear MET help,
I’m using the version MET4.1 to run the pointstat tool to verify the 6 hours
accumulated precipitation but I have a problem.
The forecast file WRPRS_d02_acc6h_2015022112.nc has been obtained by the
pcp_combine and the observation file PLUVIO_acc6h_21022105.nc from ascii2nc
The command that I used is:
./point_stat WRPRS_d02_acc6h_2015022112.nc PLUVIO_acc6h_21022105.nc /home
model/Programs/METv4.1/scripts/config/PointStatConfig_DEW_ACC6H_CNTRL
–outdir /home/model/Programs/METv4.1/data/OUT_POINTSTAT/20150221
And I obtained this error:

Hi Sabrina. Thank you for sending your files. The problem lies in
the
configuration file.
Instead of having the following in the fcst field for name and level:
field = [
{
name = "APCP";
level = ["A6"];
cat_thresh = [ >=0.5, >=1, >=2.5, >=5, >=10, >=20, >=30,
>=40];
}
];
you need to have:
field = [
{
name = "APCP_06";
level = ["(*,*)"];
cat_thresh = [ >=0.5, >=1, >=2.5, >=5, >=10, >=20, >=30,
>=40];
}
];
The NetCDF file has the field name of "APCP_06" and the level is
"(*,*)"
which specifies the two dimensions of the gridded field.
But setting this for both the forecast and observation fields won't
work.
So, we can't set:
obs = fcst;
By convention, you must specify the point observations as if it was a
GRIB
file. We've assigned a GRIB code to each point observation value, and
we
use the GRIB conventions when specifying the observation fields in
Point-Stat. So your settings should look like this:
obs = {
wind_thresh = [ NA ];
message_type = [ "ADPSFC" ];
field = [
{
name = "APCP";
level = ["A06"];
cat_thresh = [ >=0.5, >=1, >=2.5, >=5, >=10, >=20, >=30,
>=40];
}
];
I have attached a new modified configuration file with change of
"_mod" to
the file name. Please try it out and let me know how it goes. I hope

I have attached a new modified configuration file with change of
"_mod" to the file name. Please try it out and let me know how it
