  Initial Request

Hi John, I was modifying my mode software to use METv4.0 as opposed to V3.0.1. When I run the following mode command line in my program I get a syntax error:

/home/qcteam/METv4.0/bin/mode /prod8/data/global/DCF4/data/fcsts/t001/fcsts_t001_2013060906_018.GR1 /h/data/global/WXQC/data/temp/met/cloud_obs_file_71 /home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/DCFModeConfig_55 -outdir /home/qcteam/METv4.0/out/mode/ -v 4

DEBUG 1: Default Config File: /home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/MODEConfig_default

DEBUG 1: Match Config File: /home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/DCFModeConfig_55

DEBUG 1: Merge Config File: /home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/DCFModeConfig_55

ERROR :

ERROR : yyerror() -> syntax error in file "/home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/MODEConfig_default"

ERROR :

ERROR : line = 325

ERROR :

ERROR : column = 3

ERROR :

ERROR : text = "("

ERROR :

ERROR :

ERROR : ( 0.0, 1.0 )

ERROR : __^______________________

ERROR :

First question, why is it looking in the Default Config File when I specified a valid config file. Also the syntax it is getting hung up on is in the default config file and was not modified and should be what was originally sent. The two config files are attached.

Thanks

Bob Craig

Hello Bob,

Based on the error message, I see that you're running METv4.0.
However, the config files you sent are from METv3.1:
    version = "V3.1";

METv4.0 included a major restructuring of the configuration files:
    http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/release_notes/METv4.0_release_notes.php

To prepare your config file for METv4.0, you should start with the
default MODE config file for METv4.0:
   cp /home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/MODEConfig_default
/home/qcteam/METv4.0/data/config/DCFModeConfig_55_METv4.0

And then edit that config file with your desired settings.

Since you're changing versions of MET, I'd suggest upgrading to
METv4.1, which was recently released. It contains a fix for a couple
of issues in MODE:
    http://www.dtcenter.org/met/users/support/release_notes/METv4.1_release_notes.php

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
John
