John, We have METv4.1 (MODE) working on clouds. Now when I tried to get it to work with our precipitation files I get the following from running mode eventually leading to the bottom error (I left out all the diagnostic print in between):

/h/GRIBI/bin/GRIBI_copygb.exe -g"255 3 342 210 20586 -122243 8 -96000 15000 15000 0 64 60000 30000" -x /h/data/global/WXQC/data/met/temp/pcpdir/model_pcp /h/data/global/WXQC/data/met/temp/pcpdir/temp_file; cp /h/data/global/WXQC/data/met/temp/pcpdir/temp_file /h/data/global/WXQC/data/met/temp/pcpdir/model_pcp

Attached in the config file used. I uploaded the two data files to your server (craig_data).

We installed the METv4.1 patch from 6/13/2013 before this run and had to remove the FILE_TYPE attribute from my config file.

Thanks

Bob,

Thanks for sending me data - it made it easy to debug.

In the example you sent, you're comparing a gridded NetCDF file to a
gridded NetCDF file. The way of specifying the "name" and "level"
differ for the different input file types. For GRIB1 and GRIB2,
you set the name equal to the GRIB code abbreviation. But for gridded
NetCDF files, you set the name equal to the NetCDF variable name to be
used. And you set level to tell us which 2-dimensions
contain the gridded x/y data. In your case, that looks like this:
   name  = "APCP_24";
   level = "(*,*)";

The (*,*) means that the variable only has two dimensions and those
are the ones the should be used for plotting.

So for GRIB1 or GRIB2 files, use:
   name  = "APCP";
   level = "A24";

And for the NetCDF output of pcp_combine, use the one with the stars.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks,
John
