  Initial Request

Hello,

I am currently using point_stat to do some wind evaluations mainly to produce matched pairs. The observed dataset contains measurements of U/V at 10, 30, and 60 m, although some station only have one or two of these levels. I have also set the model up to have levels closely coincide with these heights. Here is a portion of the point_stat.config where I instruct it to do the analysis at the 3 levels:

# fcst_field for pointstat and fcst_vars for stat_analysis
# this gets parsed in the shell script into the pointstat format
FCST_VARS="UGRD VGRD TMP UGRD VGRD UGRD VGRD WIND WIND WIND"

# Paired to FCST_VARS - also formatted later
FCST_LEV="L1 L1 L1 L2 L2 L3 L3 L1 L2 L3"

# fcst_thresh, also matched to FCST_VARS - also formatted later
FCST_TSH="ne0 ne0 gt200 ne0 ne0 ne0 ne0 gt1 gt1 gt1"

#obs_field[]  = [];
OBS_FIELD=""

#obs_thresh[]  = [];
OBS_THRESH=""

#fcst_wind_thresh[] = [ "NA" ];
FCST_WIND_THRESH=" \"NA\" "

#obs_wind_thresh[]  = [];
OBS_WIND_THRESH=""

#message_type[] = [ "MSONET" ];
MESSAGE_TYPE=" \"MSONET\" "
You will notice several oddities in the attached output. For instance the UGRD analysis the matched pair observations values do not change for the L1, L2, and L3 levels. While the model UGRD values change between L1, L2, and L3 levels the values are repeated if the observation data has multiple levels two. VGRD and WIND also exhibit the same behavior. Any suggestions?

As always, thanks for your time.

Take care,
Joe
