I also wanted to mention one other thing.

I noticed that you've listed the F2C library in the Makefile.  That shouldn't be necessary since you're using the "gfortran" compiler.  The "-ff2c" compiler option is already included in that Makefile
which should serve the same purpose as the F2C library.  So you should be able to empty out all the F2C lines in the Makefile.
