Hello

The problem I am currently having is that the WPP is only working on WRF's initial output at t=0. For all subsequent writes it chokes in a subroutine that is calculating radar ref for non-Ferrier scheme. The help on the WPP end is slow at the moment, I believe the person handling this might be gone. Does the wrf output need to be in a single file or is multiple files fine?

It appears that you're trying to use the NetCDF output of WRF directly in MET.  Unfortunately, there's an additional step required before MET can read the WRF output.  You must first run your WRFOUT
files through the WRF Post-Processor (WPP).  You can find information about installing/running WPP here:

WPP is posted on the NMM site, but it may run on either WRF-NMM or WRF-ARW output.  WPP prepares your model output for verification in 3 main ways:
(1) Interpolates the data horizontally from a staggered model grid to a more standard regularly spaced grid.
(2) Interpolates vertically from model levels to pressure levels.
(3) Derives several output fields.

WPP writes it's output in GRIB format, and MET is set up to read that GRIB output of WPP.  For the upcoming release of MET, we are working to add support for the NetCDF output of the "pinterp" tool -
a post-processing tool which works only on ARW output.  However, we have no plans to support WRF model output directly so as not to duplicate the functionality already available in WPP.
