Hashmi,
Here are our map projection recommendations:
20N - 90N: polar stereographic projection
20N - 20S: mercator or lat-long projection
20S - 90S: MET v3.0, which will be released in the next couple months
will support southern polar stereographic.
Unfortunately, MET v2.0 does not support this projection. Please wait
for the next release.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Paul

Hashmi,
I discussed your question with my boss, and he suggested mentioning
some additional information. The grib file that
contains the model output contains the grid definition. If you are
interested in verifying the entire domain in the
grib file, set the mask_grid[] = [ "FULL" ] in the grid_stat config
file. If you want to verify only a subregion,
define the region in a poly-line file and use the grid_stat config
setting mask_poly[] = [
"MET_BASE/data/poly/file.poly" ]. Please let me know if you have any
questions.
Thanks,
Paul

Dear Paul
Thank you for all this help. I was running grid_stat for FULL mask
grid and
sub region with LMV.poly. But I want to varify for regions 20N-90N,
20N-20S
and 20S-90S. Based on your first reply 20N - 90N: polar stereographic
projection, 20N - 20S: mercator or lat-long projection, I have put
G213 in
place of FULL mask grid, but it wasnt working.
Could you please suggest me something like if I will take the FULL
mask
grid, what will be the subregion files for 20N - 90N and 20N - 20S?
Thanks and Regards
Hashmi

Hashmi,
I attached two polyline files that should mask out the first two sub-
regions that you have asked for. Unfortunately,
the south pole sub-region is not currently supported in METv2.0, but
we will soon release METv3.0 which will include
support for this. Please remember to change the settings in your
grid_stat config file to apply the poly line mask to
your data. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Yes ... you have send me those two files (northern.poly and
tropics.poly),
but when I am masking over the whole grid and taking these into
account
these two different sub-regions (2 cases) nothern and tropics then i
am
getting same results for the both the subregions. In my opinion, it
should
change. according to the subregions.
Right now, I am in Brazil, attending 2010 Meeting of Americas.
Thanks and Regards

Hashmi,
Would it be possible for you to send me the data and config file that
you are using? It will be much easier for me to
help you if I have that information. If the data files are larger
than 2MB, which is often the case, please upload them
to our FTP site using the following instructions. If you have any
questions, please let me know.
ftp ftp.rap.ucar.edu
username=anonymous
password="your email address"
cd incoming/irap/met_help/fatima_data
put "each one of your input files"
bye
Thanks,
Paul
