Initial Request

John,
Thanks for your help with getting MET running on my personal machine
back in June.
I have a question about the NetCDF files that are created when running
MODE. I am curious why no variables or attributes that describe the
valid/forecast time are included in the file. Most of the other
programs that produce NetCDF files seem to have the time information
listed as either a variable or an attribute (pcp_combine, grid_stat,
pb2nc), but not the ones produced by MODE or wavelet_stat. I realize
that I can get this from the naming conventions of the file and modify
the file myself to add this information, but am wondering why it was not
included in the file by default. Was this selected for a design reason?
Thanks for the help,
Ben

Ben,
I created a met_help ticket for this question in order to include in
the
support archives.
To answer your question, the answer is no, that omission was not
intentional. Glad to hear that someone is actually using the NetCDF
output of the MODE and Wavelet-Stat tools!
We're working on finishing up changes for METv3.0 right now. I'll add
this task to the list - making sure that the timing information is
listed
as variable attributes in the NetCDF output of MODE and Wavelet-Stat
in
the same way as the other MET tools.
Thank you for pointing out the omission.
Thanks,
John
