[Met_help] netcdf forecast file support in point_stat

I see that the code for point_stat in METv2 seems to have support for some form of netcdf forecast file in the process_grid() function.  
What format of netcdf forecast file does it support?
 
I tried passing it a WRF v3.1.1 ARW nc file but it's looking for projection attributes that are not present in the WRF output file.
