Erik,

Please take a look at the MET known issues website at the issue titled:
"Compilation Error in the vx_met_util Library"

Here's the link to the METv1.0 known issues page:

That should fix the problem.

You may want to update your code with all of the fixes posted.  They're
summarized in the section at the top titled:
"Summary of Recommended Updates"
