Lab and ISP Directors,

If you or anyone in your group would be interested in joining an effort
to build research bridges with the Colorado School of Mines, please
contact me. CSM is a very quiet and effective organization with
substantial expertise in the energy and water sectors. CSM is currently
launching their new graduate Earth Energy Institute and would like NCAR
to be closely involved.

The CSM/NCAR symposium concept came out of a meeting between NCAR and
CSM researchers & top-level managment last year and earlier, very
positive, interactions arising from the NCAR data center site search.
We are looking ahead to the interdisciplinary calls that we expect to
come out of NSF this year. Right now from NCAR we have Lawrence Buja
(climate), Caspar Ammann (paleoclimate/energy), Dave Gochis (water),
Rich Loft (high-performance computing)

Rough Timeline:
Jan 21 1st symposium planning meeting at Mines
Feb ?? 2nd symposium planning meeting at NCAR
Mar 17? 1-Day NCAR/Mines research symposium at Mines sometime the
week of Mar 15-19

Lawrence
