Here is another NSF GOLD opportunity to help you further develop your leadership as a DEI change agent in your department and beyond. The organizers of this project started their journey at the same Ideas Lab as the PIs for Hearts of GOLD. You might also consider sharing this opportunity with others.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Subject: [GOLD-network] Sparks for Change workshop

Hi GOLD friends,

After a number of covid-related postponements, Sparks for Change is moving ahead with a second leadership focused workshop in May next year. We would really love to reach some of the folks who participated in other GOLD programs as participants, and would appreciate you sharing the information below. If any of you are interested in being "Sponsors" (recognized leaders in Broadening Participation work) at our in person workshop, please let Robert (rekirsch at asu.edu<mailto:rekirsch at asu.edu>) or I know - this role includes both solidarity leadership development and recognition, and mentorship and knowledge sharing opportunities.

Are you ready to move from DEI learning to departmental action? Would you like to better support early career minoritized faculty in your institution? Join us for an intensive, funded, three-day workshop aimed at Geoscience faculty across institution type.

Sparks for Change focuses on improving the retention of underrepresented faculty and improving departmental culture towards broadening participation using small groups as change agents. Triads, comprised of a junior underrepresented minoritized faculty member, a more senior partner in the same department, and an experienced external broadening participation expert, drive departmental-level change, supported by a network of triads from across the country.

Participants in the Sparks for Change program will join us for a three-day workshop, to be held May 11-13 2022, in Boulder, CO. During the workshop, your small group will develop the leadership skills necessary to lead departmental culture change, become part of a network of scholars focused on broadening participation in the geosciences, and create a comprehensive action plan to enact relevant and specific DEIA efforts in your department. Departmental partnerships (comprised of a junior and senior faculty member) will be matched with broadening participation sponsors, and all participants will receive travel stipends to cover costs associated with attending.
