Dear Colleagues,

We are organizing an in-house (virtual) workshop this Fall (date to be
determined) focused on atmospheric rivers (ARs) and their related
impacts across NCAR/UCAR labs and projects. ARs transport large amounts
of moisture across latitudes and are key to Earth’s water cycle,
supplying communities around the globe with important water resources.
Extreme ARs, however, can produce intense precipitation that lead to
high impact events, such as severe floods, and pose significant risk to
affected communities.

The goals of this workshop are: 1) to increase cross-lab collaborations
and 2) educate ourselves on current or planned AR research at our
institution.  The workshop will be structured to include short
presentations, and will focus on discussion and finding intersections
for collaboration. A potential workshop outcome could be writing a
common proposal across labs.

If you are working in the field, or are interested in this topic, please
fill out our google form <https://forms.gle/egNcFGfTApfSctBp6>which will
help us plan and gauge interest. Feel free to contact us for more
information.
