[Grad-postdoc-assn] POST DOC - EVALUATION OF GREENHOUSE GAS FLUXES

The Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State has a Postdoctoral scholar position available to contribute to research projects focused on evaluation of greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes and transport across North America. The successful candidate will analyze aircraft and tower observations and focus on integration of new observations and modeling work into estimates of greenhouse gas sources and sinks using atmospheric inversion methods. Group projects include study of biogenic and anthropogenic GHG fluxes and processes. Collaboration with students and research scientists spanning multiple universities and federal labs is expected. A qualified Postdoctoral candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: carbon cycle science, ensemble modeling and data assimilation, inverse methods, boundary layer meteorology aircraft data analyses, and strong communication skills. Must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field by the time of hire. This is a fixed term position, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong possibility of continued support. The position is available beginning October 1, 2019 and will remain open until filled. The salaries will be commensurate with experience and will comply with The Pennsylvania State University guidelines.
