Hi Bob,
Not proposing pulling the rug out from anything at the moment. We might
just want to enter a state of no further development of the Hessian
APIs, essentially deprecate them. That would keep existing clients
running, while new and updated clients could take advantage of the new
APIs. One thing to note if you look at the overall code path for those
services, the part that make it a hessian service rather than a rest
service is actually pretty small. We could implement rest publishing
services over the vast majority of the code that the hessian services use.
