[Makoto Kelp]

Dr. Makoto Kelp (https://makotokelp.com/) is recruiting 1-2 PhD students to join the Air Quality Data Science group at the University of Utah starting Fall 2027. Tuition and stipend support will be provided.

My research group focuses on applying modern machine learning methods to policy-relevant problems in air quality/climate/weather. We are especially interested in multimodal ML for wildfire smoke and the potential for AI foundation models to improve ozone, aerosol, and dust projections.
