Please see below for information about a 2-year funded MSc position in my lab at the University of Victoria, Canada.

The Remote Sensing & AI Lab in the Department of Geography at the University of Victoria is recruiting a MSc student to start in Fall 2027. The position is 2-year funded position through research funding and/or teaching assistantships.

The student will work on a project focused on mapping and quantifying wildfire severity using satellite time series and LiDAR 3D forest structure. The research will integrate dense Landsat time series with airborne and spaceborne LiDAR observations to characterize fire-induced changes in forest structure and examine relationships between spectral burn severity and structural forest change.

We welcome applicants with strong interests in remote sensing, GIS, forest ecology, wildfire science, environmental science, or related fields. Experience with remote sensing, LiDAR, GIS, Python/R, Google Earth Engine, or geospatial data analysis is desirable but not required. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in geography, environmental science, forestry, geomatics, earth science, or a related field by Fall 2027.
