The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences

9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Urban Planning and
Hazards, beginning August 16, 2027. The expected starting salary is $85,000.
*Core Responsibilities, Qualifications & Expectations*: Candidates must
hold a Ph.D. in Geography, Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, or a
closely related field by the date of appointment. Candidates are expected
to establish a high-impact, externally funded, and theoretically grounded
research agenda that addresses complex, multi-scale issues in climate
adaptation, hazard risk reduction, and resilient urban infrastructure
across planning subfields (e.g., transportation, housing, land use,
community development) using qualitative (e.g., community-engaged),
quantitative (e.g., geospatial analytics and computational techniques),
and/or mixed-methods approaches to inform real-world planning and
policy-making. Candidates should also demonstrate evidence of, or strong
potential for, excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and
graduate students in areas such as urban/environmental planning, hazards
and disasters, qualitative research methods, sustainability, spatial
thinking, and public policy.
