The Simons Center for Computational Geophysical Flows
<https://wp.nyu.edu/sccgf/> at NYU’s Courant Institute is seeking full-time
Postdoctoral Fellows to drive cutting-edge research in the following areas
of interest: multiscale interactions, geophysical and boundary layer
turbulence, coupled atmosphere-ocean-ice dynamics, physics of rare events
and climate risks, such as extreme precipitation and flooding, and marine
heatwaves. Fellows will conduct independent research while under the
mentorship of the Center’s core faculty: Carlos Fernandez-Granda, Sara
Shamekh, Jonathan Weare, Laure Zanna, Yi Zhang, and are also connected to
NYU's expansion in Global Science and Tech, which includes the launch of
the Earth Systems Institute

Positions are fully funded for up to 3 years.
Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. in machine learning, computer science, engineering,
physical science, applied mathematics, atmosphere/ocean science, or related
technical discipline.

Experience:
-
Expertise in computational science.
-
Proficiency in Python.
-
Experience with high-performance computing (HPC), with GPUs
preferred.

Related Skills and Other Requirements
-
Ability to work at the interface of AI and physics-based
science/engineering problems.

Ability to lead, develop, and contribute to multiple projects in a
fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an
interdisciplinary team.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Strong technical and scientific curiosity.
-
A solid record of relevant publications and software development
appropriate to the applicant’s career stage.
