Hi,
Please can you send the following PhD advert to the mailing list?
Cheers,
Sophie
I am recruiting for a 4-year, funded PhD position in coastal
biogeochemistry in the Department of Geography and Environmental Systems at
the University of Maryland, Baltimore County to start in Fall 2026. The
research will fall within the following broad topics, investigating (i)
drivers of microbial-biogeochemical cycling and greenhouse gas fluxes in
coastal watersheds, (ii) effects of global environmental change on coastal
wetland biogeochemistry or (iii) fate and transport of microplastics and
their effect on biogeochemical cycling in coastal watersheds. The final
research objectives will be decided by the successful PhD candidate.
Applicants with a Master’s degree in biogeochemistry, environmental
engineering/science, chemistry, or other related fields are welcome to
apply. Previous fieldwork and/or laboratory experience is required with
programming skills preferred but not required. The PhD candidates will work
directly with Dr. Sophie Comer-Warner (Sophie Comer-Warner – Department of
Geography & Environmental Systems – UMBC
<https://ges.umbc.edu/sophie-comer-warner/>), if interested, please send a
copy of your CV to s.comer-warner at umbc.edu with a 2-3 sentence summary of
research interests so we can discuss further. The successful candidates
will receive a competitive offer package including tuition waiver, monthly
stipends and insurance benefits. The application process is outlined
here (Graduate
Programs – Department of Geography & Environmental Systems – UMBC
