Description
The School of Meteorology (https://ou.edu/ags/meteorology) at the
University of Oklahoma invites applications for an Unranked Renewable Term
faculty position focused on teaching. The School is housed within the
College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences (AGS). The purpose (mission)
of AGS is to inspire and prepare individuals for rewarding careers that
advance the understanding and responsible stewardship of the land, water,
and sky, promoting a more resilient and flourishing future of our dynamic
world.
To meet the needs of recent growth in enrollment, we seek an experienced
educator to join the School’s faculty in a unranked renewable term
appointment as Instructor (completed M.S.) or Lecturer (completed Ph.D.) in
August 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success instructing
undergraduate students, especially in introductory meteorology courses.
Advanced working knowledge of and instruction in Python computer
programming are also valued.
The School of Meteorology is currently composed of 34 faculty and has a
long and distinguished history of excellence in various sub-fields of the
atmospheric sciences. Our vision is to continue to develop the School into
a globally-engaged, student-centered atmospheric science program to advance
the Nation’s Weather, Water, and Climate enterprise, by leveraging our
strengths in research, education, and community engagement.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric
Science, or a related discipline at the time of appointment and possess a
record of experience indicating high potential for teaching excellence at
the University of Oklahoma. The candidate will be expected to teach up to 3
courses per semester and to participate in intramural and extramural
service.
