The Climate & Water Lab <https://sylviadeeclimate.org/> in the Department
of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Rice University invites
applicants for a Climate Data Scientist in the field of monitoring changes
in the hydrological cycle with stable water isotopes. This position will
entail the development of a water isotope database merging ground-based,
remote sensing, and paleoclimate data spanning the atmosphere, oceans, and
land surface. Experience with database management, large geospatial
datasets, and Python tools such as xarray and Cartopy is strongly preferred.

Candidates will be expected to contribute positively to the department
climate through mentoring and service. Both domestic and international
applicants are welcome. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment.

This project is supported for up to two years, pending satisfactory
progress during the first year, and provides a competitive stipend with a
benefits package and an additional annual discretionary research allowance.
