Dear colleagues,
I am seeking a motivated graduate student (M.S. or Ph.D.) to join my research group in the Department of Plants, Soils and Climate at Utah State University.
Our research focuses on climate dynamics and subseasonal-to-decadal (S2D) Earth system predictability, including drought, wildfire, hydroclimate, and climate variability across the western United States and beyond. The student will work on analysis of large climate datasets, climate diagnostics, Earth system modeling, and seasonal-to-decadal climate prediction using Python and/or NCL.
Students with backgrounds or interests in atmospheric science, climate science, meteorology, oceanography, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Strong interest in climate dynamics, quantitative analysis, and scientific programming is preferred. Experience with Python and/or NCL is beneficial but not required.
Graduate research assistant support (tuition + stipend) is available through multiple funded projects, subject to university and sponsor policies. Preference may be given to applicants eligible to work on federally funded research projects. The position is available as soon as possible.
