The Litvak Lab (https://www.litvaklab.org/) at the University of New Mexico is seeking applications for an Eddy Covariance Tower Sensor Technician with the title of Research Scientist 3. The position will support the New Mexico Elevation Gradient studying carbon, water and energy cycling in Southwestern drylands ranging from desert grasslands to coniferous forests  that are part of the Ameriflux Network (https://ess.science.energy.gov/ameriflux/, Sevilleta Long Term Ecological Research Program (https://sevlter.unm.edu/) and Forest Research for NM Water and Carbon Management (FOR-NM; https://arid.unm.edu/projects/for-nm.html).

The candidate will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of 8 eddy covariance towers (range from 3 m - 40 m) and associated micrometeorological instruments. Responsibilities include installing, servicing, and troubleshooting environmental sensors (above- and below-ground, data management, data quality assurance, and contributing to ecological measurements and ecosystem studies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Comfortable working at height (willing to be tower-climb certified)
  *
Hands-on technical and problem-solving skills, particularly with sensors, wiring, data loggers, and solar power
  *
Self-motivated, team-oriented, and eager to learn
  *
Ready to work in the field under hot, dry, and muggy conditions
  *
Experience operating in rugged outdoor conditions
  *
Background in ecosystem ecology, hydrology, micrometeorology, or environmental engineering

Salary: up to $60,000/year
