The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Assistant Researcher) in Climate Dynamics. The role will be based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS).
Project Context: This position is part of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project led by Dr. Duo Chan, focusing on climate change and recovery processes within the context of a "Net Zero" future. Our team benefits from the vibrant research environment and extensive collaborative networks at both the University of Southampton and the National Oceanography Centre.
Role & Duration:
* Contract: Full-time, fixed-term for 36 months (3 years), fully funded.
* Salary: £36,636 – £43,482 per annum (depending on experience).

Key Responsibilities:
* Design, execute, and analyze climate model experiments and large-scale model outputs.
* Investigate climate system responses, variability, and extreme events under mitigation and Net Zero scenarios.
* Collaborate on developing and validating new diagnostic methods and modeling frameworks.
Requirements:
* A PhD in Climate Science, Atmospheric/Oceanic Sciences, Earth System Science, or a related quantitative field.
* Proven experience in large-scale climate/earth system data analysis.
* Experience in climate modeling, including the design, configuration, and management of numerical experiments on HPC resources.
* Strong foundation in large-scale climate dynamics and quantitative skills.
* Experience with mitigation/Net Zero scenarios is a plus.
