Details
The Departments of Atmospheric Sciences, Geology and Geophysics, and the
School of Biological Sciences at the University of Utah invite applications
for multiple faculty positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate
Professor, or Full Professor level beginning as early as July 1, 2024. We
seek applications in the broad areas of climate science and impacts and
strongly encourage applicants who would interact with and advance the
mission of the recently-launched Wilkes Center for Climate Science and
Policy, which will separately evaluate successful candidates for
prestigious named positions. We are particularly interested in candidates
with strengths in any of the following areas: climate and weather extremes,
modeling of climate processes, climate change impacts and forecasting,
climate detection and attribution, biosphere-atmosphere interactions,
paleoclimate and Earth’s history, climate and water resources, and
quantitative climate biology, including climate-related disturbance ecology
(e.g. wildfires, droughts), climate-related disease ecology, and ecosystem
or land-surface modeling.
New faculty members will be expected to pursue high impact research
programs, effectively support our teaching mission at the undergraduate and
graduate levels, including the recently-launched Earth and Environmental
Science degree, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive intellectual
