PhD position: Ocean impacts on New Zealand Climate

The School of Environment at the University of Auckland is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join the new Te Moana Mahana research team. This PhD is funded by the MBIE Endeavour Research Programme “Te Moana Mahana” and will support the activities of the Regional Ocean Work Package. The PhD project would develop research to understand predictive capabilities from ocean temperatures and salinities on weather and climate in New Zealand. The project would utilise existing data sets, new ocean reanalyses and simulation output to investigate the connections between the ocean and atmosphere impacting New Zealand.
