We are recruiting a PhD- or MS-level graduate student to join the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
We welcome applications from prospective graduate students interested in tectonics, structural geology, metamorphic petrology, geochemistry, and/or geological hazards. In particular, opportunities are available through an NSF-funded project investigating the origin and significance of large-scale geomorphic lineaments in the Himalayan orogen. Research will involve fieldwork, geological and structural mapping, mineralogical and geochemical analyses, spatial datasets, and integration of field and laboratory observations.
Prospective students whose interests overlap with these research areas are encouraged to contact Dr. Elizabeth Catlos (ejcatlos at jsg.utexas.edu) to discuss potential projects and graduate research opportunities. Please include a brief description of your research interests, academic background, and relevant experience when reaching out.
