The Computational Climate Extremes and Impacts Lab (C-CEIL)
<https://sites.google.com/sas.upenn.edu/xuekeli/home> at the City
University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) invites applications for a PhD position
studying the* physical processes and dynamics underlying persistent
warm-season weather extremes in a changing climate*. Highly motivated
candidates with strong interests in *atmospheric dynamics*, *climate
variability and extremes*, *climate change impacts on extreme weather
events*, and *land-atmosphere interactions* are strongly encouraged to
apply.



Applicants should hold a B.S. or M.S. degree in climate science,
atmospheric science, Earth system science, environmental science,
geography, physics, computer science, or a related field. Prior experience
with programming (Python, R, NCL, Bash, or similar), climate modeling
(e.g., CESM), analysis of large observational and reanalysis datasets
and/or numerical model output, and machine learning methods is of advantage.



The position is expected to begin in January 2027. Interested applicants
