The community of Frogtown in St. Paul, MN is seeking experts interested in
volunteering their time and expertise for a critical community science
project. The project is in cooperation with the American Geophysical Union
(AGU) as part of their Thriving Earth Exchange program, which supports
communities as they address their environmental priorities by connecting
them with experts.

Specifically, Frogtown is looking for scientific partners to help address
public health concerns related to air pollution from a foundry, recently
cited for violating the Clean Air Act, that is located in a residential
area of their neighborhood.

   -

The Ask: We are looking for a technical expert able to engage with the
community over several months to take stock of the current situation and
vulnerabilities – including primary efforts to help analyze existing EPA
monitoring data – and recommend actions that can be taken as next steps
going forward. We anticipate this work to be done remotely and to
communicate through email, Zoom, etc. The anticipated end result is an
initial analysis of the air pollutants that can be shared within the
   community to inform potential action.

   -

The Impact: Your contributions will bring objective scientific evidence
and understanding to this community’s questions and priorities regarding
air pollution, and prepare them to use that science to make decisions and
potentially act alongside elected officials, local regulatory agencies,
etc. (More information about the project at this link
