Hi all,

A postdoctoral position is available at Duke University with Dr. Liyin He<https://nicholas.duke.edu/people/faculty/he> to conduct research on the ecological impacts of solar radiation management.

Summary: The EcoSense Lab<https://liyinhe.github.io/> at Duke University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position focused on understanding the ecological impacts of solar geoengineering, particularly stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), on terrestrial ecosystems. The successful candidate will lead research that integrates multi-source observational data (e.g., eddy covariance flux towers, satellite remote sensing, and atmospheric datasets) to investigate how SAI could influence ecosystem carbon fluxes and agricultural productivity. The postdoc will collaborate closely with Prof. Yuan Wang’s lab<https://wang-lab.stanford.edu/> at Stanford University and contribute to an interdisciplinary research team spanning ecology, atmospheric science, and climate science.
Key Responsibilities:

  * Develop and implement multi-source data analyses to assess how stratospheric aerosol injection affects climate variables, terrestrial carbon dynamics, and crop yields
  * Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in project meetings, progress reporting, and data synthesis
  * Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences
  * Contribute to mentoring students and assisting with research proposal development

Preferred Qualifications:

  * Ph.D. in ecology, atmospheric science, remote sensing, or a closely related field
  * Experience analyzing flux tower, aerosol, and satellite remote sensing data
  * Familiarity with Earth system modeling and/or AI/ML applications is highly desirable
  * Strong written and oral communication skills and a proven record of peer-reviewed publications
  * Interest and ability in mentoring students and collaborating across disciplines

To apply, please submit the following materials as a single PDF file to Dr. Liyin He (liyin.he at duke.edu<mailto:liyin.he at duke.edu>):

  * A brief cover letter (≤2 pages) describing your qualifications, research experience, and interest in this position
  * A current curriculum vitae (CV)
  * Contact information for three professional references

Applications will be reviewed upon submission and considered until the position is filled. The position is available in February 2026 for an initial one-year appointment, with strong potential for renewal based on performance and continued funding. The minimum annual salary is $64,170, commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive health insurance benefits.
