The Rutgers Applied Climatology lab led by Dr. James Shope within the Department of Environmental Sciences at Rutgers University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on evaluating multiple climate and climate change impacts across sectors such as sea-level rise/coastal processes, urban heat and health, or agricultural impacts. This position offers the candidate opportunity to shape a desired area of focus within the applied climatology framework. Emphasis will be placed on using computational data analysis, numerical modeling, and/or remote sensing to understand climate-related impacts on communities.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Ocean Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering) by the time of appointment. Background in atmospheric remote sensing is strongly preferred. Experience with numerical modeling or utilizing model output and skills in scientific programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB) is necessary. The initial appointment is 1 year, with the possibility of extension depending on the candidate's performance and funding availability. Salary is $68,000 per year including full benefits.
