Dear ES_JOBS-NET community,
I am looking for a new PhD student to join my Marine Biogeochemistry lab at
the University of Delaware’s Marine Sciences campus in Lewes, DE starting
in summer or fall 2026. The student will work on an NSF-funded project
using 13C, 14C and molecular markers to investigate the biogeochemistry of
fluids circulating through seamounts. The project will involve both
lab-based research and ship-based field work on at least one research
cruise.
For this position, I am seeking a student who is highly motivated and
independent, and who has familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques
from course work, research experience or a combination of both. Experience
with GC-MS, LC-MS, stable isotope analysis, and/or natural-abundance
radiocarbon would be a plus. Because of the cruise mobilizations that this
student will be involved in, an ability to obtain a US drivers license will
be helpful although not required.
Interested students would apply to the Ph.D. in Oceanography program at the
University of Delaware. Applications are due December 1, 2025 for priority
consideration.

Please share this opportunity with potential candidates that you may know.
Interested candidates should contact Dr. Suni Shah Walter (suni at udel.edu)
with a short statement of interest and a CV.
Thanks,
Suni
