*The position*
We are looking for an emerging research leader who will develop a
research group
within the topic of Climate Hazards and Society. Their research will
combine the study of the multiple and interacting physical drivers of
climate hazards with an understanding of the societal processes that shape
both the hazards and their impacts. The requirement is that the research is
not limited to only studying the physical dimension of hazards or only the
impacts of hazards on society, but rather combines synergistically these
two perspectives. The Assistant Professor will be based at the Dept. of
Earth Sciences in Uppsala and will be part of the Swedish Centre for
Impacts of Climate Extremes (climes <https://www.climes.se/>).
*The department*
Uppsala University is a comprehensive, research-intensive university with a
strong international standing. The Department of Earth Sciences
<https://www.uu.se/en/department/earth-sciences?languageId=1> is one of the
most complete such academic departments in Europe. Our research focuses on
subjects that range from the Earth’s core to the atmosphere and human
society, on scales from submicroscopic structures in minerals to the
formation of mountains and oceans. We have teaching at undergraduate and
graduate levels.
