MSc opportunity: Carbon storage potential in clastic reservoirs, offshore Newfoundland
Start date: January 2026
Stipend: $20,000 - $30,000 per annum (CAD)
Project outline:
Applications for an exciting fully funded 2-year MSc opportunity are currently being accepted.
As part of a multidisciplinary project evaluating the carbon storage capacity of the offshore Newfoundland region, this MSc student will investigate and constrain reservoir properties of post-rift clastic strata using a combination of wellbore, seismic, and outcrop analogue data.
The Msc candidate is expected to have an Honours BSc in Earth Science or Geology. Experience and/or interest in sedimentology and stratigraphy of clastic sedimentary rocks, using downhole petrophysical datasets, seismic interpretation, and use of Petrel are considered assets. Motivated candidates are asked to send a CV, cover letter, names and contact information of three referees, and a statement of interest to dlowe at mun.ca<mailto:dlowe at mun.ca>. I am committed to providing a diverse and inclusive research environment. Therefore, strongly encourage applications from equity-seeking groups from across the world.
