[ES_JOBS_NET] MS Positions in Geology at the University of Akron -- Spring 2026 and Fall 2026!

Hi Everyone --

*The Department of Geosciences at The University of Akron has several
graduate assistantships available over the next 12 months, including
positions available to start in Spring 2026.*

Each assistantship includes a 9-month stipend and tuition waiver. Faculty
members in our department mentor graduate students interested in a variety
of geology and environmental science areas. Our faculty have active
research programs in:


1. Dr. Pollock studies environmental geology and sediment transport
processes such as

avalanches, debris flows, and pyroclastic currents.


2. Dr. Holyoke studies structural geology and mineral deformation to
understand physical

and chemical evolution of Earth’s crust and mantle.


3. Dr. Senko studies how microbes control geochemistry. He conducts
research both in

the lab with cultures and in the field at a variety of sites.


4. Dr. Peck studies river and lake sediment for both modern processes and
past climatic

and environmental change.


5. Dr. Sasowsky studies oil/gas and ground water, with a focus on karst and
caves.


A number of these programs are funded by grants that may include summer
stipends and research assistantships for graduate students. Please view our
