Dear Colleagues,

I have a new PhD position available in my Organic Geochemistry research group at the University of Basel. The position is available within the framework of my SNSF Starting Grant, and will focus on developing and applying hydrogen isotope ratios of phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) as a proxy for microbial carbon use efficiency in soils. The PhD researcher will conduct soil mesocosm experiments and collect soil samples from an ongoing, long-term forest drought manipulation. The project integrates compound specific stable isotope measurements with environmental multi 'omic tools (metabolomics, metatranscriptomics, metagenomics).

The PhD position is fully funded for 4 years, with a desired start date in September 2025.
