PhD and Postdoctoral Openings in Air Pollution and Atmospheric Chemistry
My research group at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
(KAUST), Saudi Arabia, is seeking motivated Ph.D and postdoc candidates on
the following projects:
(1) Multiphase photosensitization chemistry including the formation of
secondary pollutants;
(2) Biomass burning aerosol chemistry, light absorption, and reactions;
(3) Mineral dust photochemistry
(3) Sources, composition, and chemical reactivity of atmospheric
particulates in the Middle East.
My lab is well-equipped with aerosol and air pollution instrumentation,
including Soot-particle aerosol mass spectrometry (SP-AMS), optical
photothermo infrared microscope (O-PTIR), photon-transfer reaction mass
spectrometry (PTR-MS), and oxidative flow reactor (OFR). We also use the
KAUST’s Core Labs facilities such as electron paramagnetic resonance
spectroscopy (EPR) and various high resolution mass spectrometry techniques
for offline chemical analysis(https://lnkd.in/gZXasVmR).
Experience in aerosol mass spectrometry (online and offline),
photochemistry, or field campaigns with online instrumentations are
preferred for Postdoc applicants. Applicants for PhD studies with
undergraduate background in chemistry, chemical engineering, and
environmental science/engineering are preferred.
Located in Saudi Arabia, on the eastern shores of the Red Sea, KAUST is an
international, graduate research university dedicated to advancing science
and technology through interdisciplinary research, education, and
innovation. More information about KAUST academic programs, research
activities, and community life is available at http://www.kaust.edu.sa.
