About Us
Jupiter is the global market leader in analytics for resilience planning
and enterprise climate risk management. We are led by pioneers in data,
climate, and earth and ocean sciences, as well as technology, risk
management, company building, and public policy. Our climate risk modeling
solutions save lives and mitigate potentially catastrophic impacts
inflicted by hurricanes, floods, heat waves, wildfires, drought, and other
extreme weather events on homes, businesses, infrastructure, food and water
supplies, and entire economies.

Jupiter is also committed to the world community. Through our Jupiter
Promise initiative we provide services to under-resourced countries and
communities to promote sound decision making while including the potential
impacts of climate change. Employees are encouraged to provide their
expertise to various programs under the Jupiter Promise initiative.

analysis. Your work will directly contribute to the accuracy and efficiency
of our hydrologic and climatological research and development efforts, with
a direct impact on our flood risk assessment products.

What we need you to do:

- Acquire, process, and analyze large-scale Digital Elevation Model (DEM)
datasets from various sources in support of flood risk modeling. This
includes tasks such as data cleaning, resampling, vertical and horizontal
datum adjustments, cataloging and terrain analysis.
- Collaborate with science and software engineering teams to integrate DEM
solutions into scientific processing workflows and perform quality control
assessments.
- Proven ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team
environment.

What skills we need you to have:

- Expertise in Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data sources and processing in
support of hydrologic modeling.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as NumPy, GDAL,
Rasterio, Xarray, and Pandas.
- Demonstrated experience with the open-source geospatial Python ecosystem
and open-source tools like QGIS.
- Hands-on experience with GeoTiff and other geoscience data formats.
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices and cloud computing.

What experience we need you to have:

- Master’s degree in geography, geographic information systems,
environmental science, or a related scientific field; OR a Bachelor’s
degree in a related field combined with a minimum of two years of
experience applying or developing geospatial tools, methods, algorithms,
etc. and working with disparate data sources.
