Title: Impact of Deep Convection on the Lower Equatorial Stratosphere from STRATEOLE 2 Balloon Campaigns
Location: Reims, France

Join the renowned GSMA Laboratory, a leading research hub in atmospheric sciences, based in the heart of Reims, a historic French city internationally celebrated as the capital of Champagne.

This PhD project is part of the French-American STRATEOLE 2 program (please see the attached), leveraging long-duration balloon data to study deep convection events and their influence on stratospheric water vapor budget. 

The work will involve advanced mesoscale simulations (Méso-NH) and data-model integration using high-performance computing.

Key topics:

Deep convection and overshoots

Tropical lower stratosphere dynamics

Water vapor transport

Cyclonic systems and atmospheric modeling

Required profile:

Background in atmospheric physics

Strong skills in Python & Fortran

Experience with large datasets and modeling tools
