Happy New Year listserv readers!
I am currently welcoming expressions of interest in paid research internships and/or fully funded opportunities for graduate studies (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in my research group in the Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Interns and graduate students will work on projects in the general area of regional- to global-scale simulation modeling of vegetation dynamics and wildfires, including the exploration of scenarios for fuel treatments that could mitigate the worst impacts of future climate change on wildfires. Applicants with a background in earth system science or related fields, including but not limited to ecology, climatology, geography, and geology are welcomed. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate outstanding critical thinking, research, and written and oral communication skills. Interest in computing is essential, although prior programming experience is not required.

Best regards,
Jed
