The position is engaged in applied research related to the impacts of
regulated river operations and changing environmental conditions on
salmonid population recovery and sustainability. The research is on
endangered and threatened Salmon and Steelhead stocks in the Central Valley
of California and the Columbia River Basin in the Pacific Northwest. The
research projects aim to: 1) determine ecological processes affecting
survival, recruitment, migration, and other biological responses of
anadromous species; 2) design, develop, and refine online tools for access
to research findings and decision support to practitioners engaged in
adaptive and in-season management; 3) document research and methods for
open science; and 4) synthesize, research, and innovate on information
sciences and decision support tools.
