Dear es_jobs_net

Could you post the following ad for me?
Thanks:)

Simulating plankton responses to global warming and their feedback

§ Employer: IBS Center for Climate Physics

§ Location: Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea

§ Education Level: PhD

§ Job type: Postdoctoral Fellow

§ Salary: 54-58 million KRW/year (~43,000-45,000 USD)

§ Term: Full Time, 2 years, with possibility for renewal

Applicants for this position should have a PhD in oceanography, biogeochemistry, climate sciences, or a related field. Candidates are expected to have strong computational skills, excitement to work on a new research subject, a good publication record, a high level of independence, curiosity and creativity, and an interest in working in an international and interdisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Eun Young Kwon to explore how upper trophic-level marine organisms respond to global warming and how these responses feedback into changes in climate and the global carbon cycle on decadal to centennial timescales. This work will involve conducting sensitivity experiments using the Community Earth System Model (CESM), focusing on various parameterizations of the temperature-dependent metabolic rates of marine plankton and microbes. The candidate will analyze the results to examine the sensitivity of marine biology-driven changes in ocean biogeochemical cycles and climate to different parameterizations. This project will enhance our understanding of the interactions between climate change, marine life, and ocean biogeochemical cycles, helping us better project future changes in the global carbon cycle and marine ecosystems.

The IBS Center for Climate Physics (ICCP), (http://iccp.ibs.re.kr <http://iccp.ibs.re.kr/>) directed by Dr. Axel Timmermann <https://ibsclimate.org/people/axel-timmermann/>, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of natural climate variability, man-made climate change and their impacts on the hydrological cycle, regional processes, ice-sheets, and sea level. The ICCP is generously funded through the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) (http://ibs.re.kr <http://ibs.re.kr/>).

Please submit a cover letter, a short statement of your research interests, curriculum vitae, the name of 2 references, and up to three publications to Ms. Jenny Choi (hahadaye at pusan.ac.kr <mailto:hahadaye at pusan.ac.kr>). The position will be open until it is filled. If you have any further questions regarding this position, please contact Prof. Eun Young Kwon (ekwon957 at gmail.com <mailto:ekwon957 at gmail.com>).
