Hi everyone,
The Development Innovation Lab (DIL) at the University of Chicago is
working with partners to generate and disseminate weather forecasts at
scale in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), building on evidence
that the benefits of procuring and delivering forecasts outweigh the costs
by orders of magnitude. We are also setting up a new program to leverage
the power of AI to democratize access to forecasts in LMICs.
We are looking to hire two exciting roles to support these efforts:
   -
Senior Director: The Senior Director will lead the Human-Centered
Weather Forecasts initiative, a new interdisciplinary UChicago initiative
that aims to transform access to high-quality weather forecasts in LMICs.
The Senior Director will spearhead fundraising efforts to establish a
long-term program, develop and execute a strategic plan, and build
relationships with high-level policymakers, funders, nonprofit leaders, and
business executives on the global stage. Apply here
   <https://dil.uchicago.edu/senior-director-weather-forecasts/> by
   December 4.
   -
Improved Weather Lead: The Improved Weather Lead will manage efforts to
disseminate high-quality forecasts to hundreds of millions of farmers in
partnership with multilateral development banks. The Lead will also manage
a training program to generate AI-based weather forecasts in LMICs and
   coordinate research efforts. Apply here

   by November 24.
This is a great opportunity for senior and mid-career professionals to help
scale a climate adaptation tool that can benefit millions of smallholder
farmers. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Best,
Mauricio Ortiz-Riomalo
