The Climate Change and Impacts Branch (CSIB) in OAP's Climate Change Division is seeking applicants for a climate change data scientist.
The main responsibilities of this role in CSIB are:
* Develop, analyze, and summarize data within two of the Branch's core programs: climate change indicators<https://www.epa.gov/climate-indicators> that track observed changes in the climate system, and the CIRA project<http://www.epa.gov/cira> to quantify the impacts and damages<https://usepa.github.io/FrEDI/index.html> of future climate change in the United States.
* Develop innovative and creative ways to visualize data and information for direct use in Agency reports, websites, journal articles, and other publications.
* Use computational software and tools such as R, python, and GIS to create, manage, analyze, and map complex datasets developed within the Branch's programs.
The Waste Emissions Branch (WEB) in OAP's Climate Change Division is seeking applicants for a greenhouse gas emissions data scientist.
The main responsibilities of this role in WEB are:
* Contribute to assessments of EPA's oil and gas GHG emissions data, including emissions and activity data reported to or utilized in EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program<https://www.epa.gov/ghgreporting> and Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks<https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/inventory-us-greenhouse-gas-emissions-and-sinks>
* Track research that can improve data and that helps in the assessment of monitoring and quantification technologies and approaches.
* Engage with the research community to ensure that EPA has access to the latest information and that external research studies can be used to improve oil and gas methane data.
