is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead an exciting project
assessing the causes and consequences of lagging ecological community
responses to climate change. The successful candidate will be co-advised by
Drs. Kai Zhu

and interact closely with Dr. Peter Adler (USU). The candidate will analyze
and synthesize global change experiments and observations, with a focus on
the plant communities and ecosystem acclimation to climate change. This
position offers a unique opportunity to work with a cutting-edge
interdisciplinary team and contribute to improving projections of climate
change impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability.

This postdoctoral position will be available for an initial duration of one
year with the possibility of extension for a subsequent year contingent
upon satisfactory academic performance and fulfillment of job
responsibilities. The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary
complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. This full-time, on-site
position will allow for direct collaboration and engagement with the
vibrant research community at the University of Michigan campus in the city
of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

*Research Responsibilities or Areas:*
The postdoctoral researcher will:
- Analyze data from existing global change experiments utilizing a
functional ecology approach.
- Compile and analyze ecological and biogeographical records from citizen
or community science programs.
- Integrate data from experiments and observations (as described above) by
developing data-driven models using statistics or machine learning
approaches to quantify community changes (e.g., species composition) and
ecosystem impacts (e.g., net primary productivity).
- Publish peer-reviewed papers and contribute to developing new proposals.
- Present research findings in scientific meetings and engage with the
broader UM-IGCB community.

*Required Qualifications:*
- A Ph.D. in ecology, environmental science, geography, or a field closely
related to global change biology.
- Familiarity with global change experiments and large-scale ecological
observations.
- Proficiency in ecological modeling, data analysis, and synthesis across
large datasets.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals and
ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an
interdisciplinary team.
