The Center for Oldest Ice Exploration, COLDEX, is excited to announce that
applications are now open for the 2024 Interdisciplinary Oldest Ice Science

postdoctoral researchers interested in applications of their research
towards ice core science. The course will focus on two separate overarching
themes (see learning objectives below).

information about past climate and environmental change
   - Summarize the benefits, limitations, and main components of the
continuous flow analysis method for analyzing the chemistry of ice cores
   - Describe the advantages and challenges of using blue ice cores for
climate interpretation relative to traditional ice core science
   - Describe the science goals of the COLDEX Science and Technology Center
(STC), including questions about Plio-Pleistocene climate and Earth history

*Day 2 learning objectives*
*Participants will be able to:*

   - Identify the major elements of a competitive scientific grant proposal
   - Describe the lifecycle of grant proposals at the National Science

The short course will be held on September 7 - 8, 2024 at Oregon State
University. This course occurs the two days prior to the COLDEX Annual
Meeting (September 9 - 11 at OSU), allowing participants to select to stay
for the COLDEX meeting if they choose.

Lodging at Oregon State University and all meals will be covered by COLDEX
during the short course (we will also cover lodging on campus for those who
choose to stay during the COLDEX annual meeting). Limited travel funding is
available to support arrival in Corvallis, Oregon. Please note: any
indicated need for travel funding support will not influence the selection
of participants for the short course. We will reach out after July 17 with
details regarding any travel support we can provide.
